Epithelial tumors of the upper urinary tract involving the renal pelvis are relatively uncommon. They account for approximately 10 percent of all renal tumors and about 5 percent of all urothelial tumors. We report the case of a patient with transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis. After ancillaries and radiographic examinations revealing a renal pelvis tumor, he underwent laparoscopic transperitoneal radical nephroureterectomy with endoscopic pluck technique. This is the first documented case of laparoscopic transperitoneal radical nephroureterectomy in the Philippines. This relatively new technique provides a promising approach which offers technical feasibility and adaptability for urologists. A new technique that offers the patient better postoperative recovery without compromising the basic tenets of oncologic surgery.
