Localized renal cell carcinoma remains a surgical disease with excision of the tumor as the corner stone of management. At present, after establishing its value, nephron sparing surgery by laparoscopic approach is gaining popularity. Due to the procedure's technical difficulty, it entails a highly experienced team of laparoscopists and adequate equipment. This paper will present that such procedure may be replicated in the local setting with a new approach in achieving hilar control without deviating from the basic principles of partial nephrectomy.

Key words: Laparoscopic nephron sparing surgery (NSS), renal carcinoma, hilar vascular control, vessel loop snare
